Vocal for Local : Boon OR Bane!

Government of India is putting huge emphasis on buying local products and services. How can we benefit by being Vocal For Local? Why is it so important? How can we practice true patriotism in day to day life? Let us explore!





In 2019, India’s import from China was USD 68 billion and export to China was merely USD 16.96 billion. India imports products like electrical machinery, equipment and their parts, nuclear reactors, organic and inorganic chemicals, fertilizers as well as vehicles, their parts and accessories.



Now you can imagine the worth of Indian market to China and other countries who export their goods and services to us. Why are we becoming so dependent on other countries for our needs? Imagine how tough call it becomes for our government to close our borders in times of crisis like Covid-19 pandemic. What we will do in tough situations like war and emergencies when we are so dependent on others?



According to Census 2001, we have a workforce of about 400 million which is huge! All we need to do is stand united and choose to use local products instead of foreign brands. Remember all the multinational brands we come across today were once local…They became popular in their own region and then got a brand value! It might happen that buying Indian products could cost us a bit more than imported ones but still in the long run, we as a country will gain momentum in the road to development. We will become self- employed, self-sufficient and self-sustained!



True patriotism lies in doing things which benefits our country and getting Vocal for Local is one of the greatest step towards India’s development!
