Turning Covid-19 Crisis into opportunity!

A virus hits the world, and everything comes to a standstill....from industries to offices, colleges to schools everything is forced to stay shut. Citizens are imposed with a strict lockdown, nobody is allowed to leave homes except in case of emergency and unavoidable work!

Soon, newspapers got flooded with stories of migration of daily wagelabourers, shortage of food, anxiety among people and a knock of ahuge economic crisis. Nobody is left untouched with the downfallcaused due to a single tiny virus Covid- 19!

But the damage had been done and the loss had already incurred. What we need to focus is that how we as students, who are the future of our country are doing to give our contribution in boosting the economy...

If we try to analyse the situation from a different perspective, we will make some remarkable observations!

Firstly, we need to acknowledge that we have got the whole 24Hrs to ourselves as schools and colleges are shut. Which means we have got ample of time to learn anything and everything we were repeatedly procrastinating. Now another question is what should we learn and do so that the opportunity which came in disguise with a crisis can be utilised to our benefit? There are two types of things we can do. Either we can follow our hobby which most of the people are already doing to use their time to the fullest. This approach is very useful as long as we are learning and discovering skills along the way. That means if you are a voracious reader, you are actually building up your vocabulary and improving language which will ultimately help you in all walks of life.

Another way of utilising this time to increase our skills for employability is to learn some freelancing skills. If you are not familiar with this word then let me elaborate it for you. Freelancing is basically a different way to work. Rather than being employed by a company in one specific job, freelancers are self employed and find work via a variety of sources. Some websites such as www.freelancing.com and www.upwork.com provide the same.

There are different skills which we can aquire to increase our chances of employability other than our regular degree and formal education.

Top skills for freelancers are:-

  • Graphic Designing

  • Web Design and Development

  • Content Writing

  • Photography and Videography

  • Video Editing | Photo Editing

  • Digital Marketing

  • Animator

  • Translation and Languages

  • Android App Developer

There are plenty of courses available online which teaches these skills from scratch. All we need to do is to invest our time in learning more and more skills which interests us. Remember! We get paid for our skills and knowledge and not for our degree.

Lastly, this worldwide crisis has brought up many difficulties for everyone but it is also an opportunity in disguise if we are ready to tap it...

STAY HOME, STAY SAFE AND KEEP LEARNING!!

    1. I will tell what I do to increase my vocabulary...First of all try to read as much as possible and make sure you always search dictionary for the meanings of unknown words... People who read have greater knowledge and better hold on language than those who don't...Another thing you should do is watch English movies and listen to English songs.. I remember I used to be a fan of English songs when I was a teenager.. I have made a habit of reading English newspaper..this helps me to keep in touch with the latest news and at the same time some particular words which are trending! In a few days of following this you will observe some significant changes in yourself..i hope this reply was helpful πŸ™‚
