Are we neglecting our mental health?

Sushant Singh Rajput

The recent suicide of Indian Actor Sushant Singh Rajput has raised many questions....Are we not doing enough for our peace of mind?

Fame, money, luxury, a huge fanbase, success came after a lot of struggle for Sushant. With no filmy family background, it is like a dream for many to achieve success in bollywood. But for Sushant, he transformed his dreams into reality through his hardwork and perseverance. Then why did an actor who did not gave up when he was struggling for work, did gave up on his life now, when he had achieved everything he had desired for? Everybody who heard the drastic news had only one question...why? Why Sushant why..?

Maybe we all know the answer! Because we all are in some ways or other in the same situation. We live in an age where we have hundreds of friends and followers on facebook and instagram but not even one person we actually confide to! Yes, Sushant might have got some personal problems but these problems gets aggravated when one starts feeling lonely...He or She starts feeling that there are millions of people but not even one person who understands and supports them. And in that one impulsive moment, no wealth, no fame comes to rescue! Because we humans are built this way, money cannot buy us love, support and peace of mind and ultimately we need people whom we can trust to live a quality life..

So, how do we deal with such a situation? The best and most effective way is to disrupt the negative chain of thoughts in various ways. We can either choose to give ourselves more time by pursuing our passion or keeping ourselves busy in work related tasks. The other way is to enhance our social networks and try to be surrounded by friends and wellwishers to make sure our mind is diverted from excessive thinking. Due to the present Covid 19 pandemic it is advised to practise social distancing but we can still try to maintain our networks through calls and video calls.

Let us all try to break our own shells and become more sensitive for people around us. Let us check on our friends and family if they need something and if they are okay..And most importantly, listen to them when they have got something to say.

Yes, we all want to become successful but let us not lose ourselves in the mission to win the world!

May your soul Rest in Peace SSR, you will always be remembered for your acting prowess and the innocence through which you won many hearts...
